Hello lovelies. Whether you had a long holiday weekend or not, I hope you had an enjoyable one. I did! It was a bit busier than I would have liked, but it’s getting to be that time of year.

I ran a Turkey Trot on Thursday with my friend David. He’s visually impaired, so I am a guide runner for him. It was a little chilly to start, but we warmed up a few miles in.

I also helped out with a toy drive to collect toys for families less fortunate.

Halfway through, we had this many toys already!

A family donating a new toy got a ride on a firetruck (great incentive!) thanks to Sunnyvale’s finest:

I realised this weekend that I need to stop being in denial about the colder weather…

And start to dress more appropriately…

Although – I was so cold running over the weekend that I ran my fastest 5km ever in 25 minutes!!! WOOT!

We entertained some friends for supper Thursday, but I neglected to take pictures. Friday we were invited to a Friendsgiving Potluck and although I neglected to take pictures of people, I managed to take plenty of the food (typical food blogger!).

People brought greens:

I brought salad and potatoes:friendsgiving1

Robin made a heartshaped Tofurkey:

And biscuits:

And a few people brought delicious desserts!

I will let you know now that my blogging may suffer over the next couple of weeks. I have signed up as a Team Leader of the Toy Department at the Sunnyvale Community Services for their Christmas Centre. We get donations from wonderful local businesses and people to help give a nice Christmas to those who cannot afford one. We try and get toys for the kids, warm clothing, food and a nice family gift that is needed (crockpots, dishes, etc). I am proud to be a part of this! It is a lot of work though. I’m volunteering several hours a day for the next 2 weeks and even pulling double shifts a couple of days. That on top of my other volunteer commitments means less time for other things, but I feel like you will all understand it’s for a great cause =)

How was your weekend?

  1. Your weekend sounds very fun! Congrats on a great 5k time! I’m still trying to get to where you are!

The holidays are so hard to keep up a regular blog schedule. You’re doing such great things and helping out so many people. You’re an inspiration!

    1. It was a fun weekend – a little busier than I would have liked, but fun nonetheless.
Oh my goodness, that was a one off for my run I think. I have never ran that fast before, not sure I will again ;p
      Thanks Mary Ellen =)

  2. What a wonderful weekend you had! Congrats on the run time and the volunteer time, too! That’s great! I enjoyed some RnR this weekend…that’s Rest and Relaxation (perhaps next weekend will be the Rock N Roll weekend! LOL)

  3. You are so inspiring Kimmy! I’m sure I’ve told you this before, but I admire how much you volunteer in your community :)
And the heart-shaped Tofurkey that Robin made is so cool! Very fitting for Thanksgiving <3
