Weekend Foodie Fun

I’m again realizing I neglected to take pictures of actual humans and have only food to share with you today. This is becoming a trend 😉

I went to my friend Isabelle’s on Friday to make yogurt. That’s right! Make yogurt!!! I though the idea of it sounded a little intimidating, but she showed me how simple it can be. There is actually a recipe in Miyoko’s Vegan Artisan Vegan Cheese Cookbook. I do find the prospect of making it without a yogurt maker a wee bit scary, but I will give it a shot and let you know how it goes!

Saturday morning started early with a moonlit run:

Promptly followed by a delicious porridge:

Mmmm quinoa flakes…

I celebrated Ashley’s birthday this weekend which was quite fun. We checked out Two Mamma’s in Oakland for lunch. I tried the frittata, which was pretty good, but the potato salad was amaze balls!

We headed to Timeless Café for dessert. I had never been there before, but it was simply amazing. It’s a super cute completely vegan café. Despite the fact that I don’t even drink coffee, I want to spend as much time there as possible. It’s cozy and nice… and has a ton of delicious vegan treats. I tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake and it was very decadent!

If you are in the Oakland/Berkeley area, I highly recommend checking these places out.

And Sunday was brunch day! I headed to Robin’s to meet up with my promettes to have a vegan prom committee meeting. We figured we could enjoy delicious food while we met.

There were quiche, empanadas, pancakes, sausages, “meatballs”, hasbrowns and I made tofu scramble (bottom). Everything was sooooo good.

I may have been in a food coma afterwards. I somehow managed to find room for dessert though!

Look at these gorgeous truffles my friend Yesica made. You can find the recipe for these Rosemary Chocolate Truffles on her blog.

And check out these cupcakes Robin made for Ashley’s birthday!!!!!

They are doughnut themed cupcakes as they host the podcast Dolls & Doughnuts. So cute!!

Almost as cute as a puppy with her tongue sticking out. Almost…

How was your weekend? Did you have some delicious eats?

  1. My photos are almost entirely food and cats. I am really bad at remembering to take photos of actual things and people! I was really into scrapbooking, but even though I have loads of stuff to do it I never seem to find the time or inclination anymore. So I think my taking photos of people and things kind of dropped off.

Your weekend looks so yummy! I want to go to there and eat that food! I had to work on Saturday, and then Sunday I mostly just lazed around the house with the cats, but I did make some nice food that day!

    1. Yes, we’re very similar with our picture taking, except to replace cats with dogs ;p
Ooh I used to be into scrapbooking too! I’ve made a few. Maybe I should make a food scrapbook haha!
I would LOVE for you to come visit me. I would make all of my friends make you super delicious and awesome food =)
Your Sunday sounds ideal. I don’t see a Sunday like that in my forseeable future…

    1. omg the cake was super amazing and delicious! It sadly wasn’t gluten free so I wasn’t feeling great the day after, but once in awhile it’s worth the indulgence ;p
I will keep you posted about my yogurt making adventures!

  2. I always take pictures of my food and forget to take actual humans too lol! Your food from the weekend all looks amazing. I would mess up some of those empanadas and quiches. :)

Matt, myself and the pups hunkered down in the storm so it was leftovers and scrounging for food most of the weekend.

    1. Haha. My weekends are not typically filled with food like this, but it was pretty great!
I hope you managed to stay warm!!! I was thinking about you as I know you were in the “danger” zone.

      1. Aw, thanks for thinking of me. :) Things have started thawing out during the day so it’s getting better. Matt says we need to get out of the NYC area because he can’t take the snow much longer. We may have to head out to your area of Cali!
