I had been craving a weekend away for quite sometime. I had a few back in October, but was looking for something with Terry. Something more quiet, relaxed and romantic. Before moving to Northern California, we had heard of a vegan bed & breakfast. How awesome is that? Oh and the best part? It’s dog-friendly =)
It was a bit of a trek. The Stanford Inn was over four hours away up north and we only stayed the night. We arrived at dusk. I was happy to see they had decked the place out with Christmas decorations.
We could see the ocean from our window!
One of the reasons we had wanted to check the place out was because the food was apparently *amazing*. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a dog-friendly dining area (a non-doggie one too for diners without pets and who may not want to see furry creatures around).
Terry tried a stuffed pasta with marinara sauce that he enjoyed.
I tried a tasty gluten-free mushroom burger:
Overall, we were impressed with Raven’s Restaurant. The service was amazing! And we did enjoy our pup’s company, which was important to us. Although the food was quite good, we were honestly expecting it to be better. It didn’t quite live up to the hype, and for the price, we thought it would be a little more extravagant.
We retired to our incredibly comfortable room and enjoyed a fire while watching a movie. Perfect way to spend a rainy, chilly evening.
After a slightly disappointing dinner the night before, we weren’t expecting a great breakfast. They totally redeemed themselves. We could not believe how incredible the breakfast was!
Terry tried the Florentine and practically licked his plate clean.
I decided on the Breakfast Crêpe. It was gluten-free (yay!), loaded with a ton of veggies and they drizzled their homemade cashew cheese sauce on top. It was amazing! The crêpe was light & fluffy and very flavourful. The perfectly cooked country potatoes were a nice complement. Oh! And they serve fresh juice and your choice of tea or coffee. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better breakfast.
Sunny was just happy to be at our feet while we munched our breaky.
We really enjoyed our experience! Stanford Inn is nestled in the coastal town of Mendocino, California. It’s set among beautiful trees and breathtaking views of the ocean. The service was impeccable at all times and everyone is so friendly. They really go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The room was a little outdated, but it was very spacious and the bed was comfortable and the view can’t be beat! Although we were a little disappointed with supper, breakfast more than made up for it. I would recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

After checking out, we decided to check out Mendocino. We’ve decided to retire there one day =)
The house from Murder She Wrote
We enjoyed the day by walking around the beach. It was glorious…
We stopped for lunch in Fort Bragg – they of all places had a raw, vegan restaurant. Delicious food!
Great mini-vacation =)
