US Half Marathon Recap

There is nothing that makes you fall out of love with running then training for something. Ha! I’m not going to lie and say training for a half marathon is all rainbows and puppies, ’cause by the end of training, if you’re anything like me, you are DONE with running. BUT, the feeling you get crossing that finish line… well, it just can’t be beat =)

I was fortunate enough to train and run the US Half Marathon one early Sunday morning this November and it was a pretty fantastic experience. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. It certainly didn’t hurt that it happened to be November 4th, which was timed perfectly with day light savings time and I got an extra hour of sleep the night before =D

Here are some of the cool pics I took (and some taken by my hubby and my friend’s boyfriend).

The token “before” picture.

I tried taking a picture of us… didn’t really turn out, but it’s still kind of a cool shot.

One of the coolest things about this particular run was that we got to run across the Golden Gate Bridge. I had never walked across it, so this was especially eventful for me =D

I love this pic I got of my friend Di. She was trying to wait for the waves to come in to get splashed (this was over halfway through the run and we were getting hot).

Happy to be finished!

Yay we did it! Check out our awesome bling.

Nothing beats cooling off your feet after a long run.

We finished it in about 2 and a half hours. I think we could have finished a little sooner, but damn! Those San Francisco hills killed me. Next time I will be doing more hill training ;p

All in all, a pretty amazing day.

  1. Kimmy, you go girl! Thanks for sharing these pics; you’re motivating me to get my butt in gear and start training for a sprint distance triathlon.

Also, the view from the Golden Gate is gorgeous. Thanks for the inspiration!
