Southern California getaway

I’m really enjoying my summer. I have been so lucky to travel and do fun things and enjoy super awesome vegan food! I recently received an invitation from my good friend Carrie to meet up with her down south. She didn’t have to ask me twice! I packed my car up, and away I went. It was just me and my tunes on the open road.

I met up with Carrie and her husband Alan in San Luis Obispo for supper. We checked out Big Sky Café and I tried the Big Sky Noodle Bowl. I’m not a huge soup eater, but it was delicious.

We hit up the Thursday evening market. Very cool! I didn’t really get any pictures as it was so packed. But night markets are fun! There were a ton of vendors, great live music and lots of fun things to check out. I walked away with apple butter and some lemon basil (recipe featuring this is coming!)… and this awesome sauce vegan and gluten-free doughnut:

Check out this amazing sunset:

The following morning, Carrie and I went for a nice, long walk.

And we finished the day off by grabbing lunch at Bliss Café where we both got the Green Energy Bowl:

This was my second time and the food is always delicious. The desserts are really decadent. A perfect way to end a wonderful weekend getaway =)

  1. Awesome photos as always! Will you be doing Vegan MoFo again this year?
I have a bunch of catching up to do on your blog so keep your eyes peeled for a slew of comments! LOL

    1. I was *just* reminded last night of MoFo. I have to admit I cringed a bit as it was an awful lot of work, but it was fun and I met some cool bloggers, so I think I will again =) Hope to see you there!

  2. OK, I really need you to write down all your favourite restos and hiking suggestions. I know there are tons of things to see and do but I’d hate to miss out on the killer spots like this I may never have even heard of. :)

    1. Oh I’m already starting on your list my dear. And I can ask around for hiking suggestions. I have hiked a fair amount in my small area, but have friends who have gone out where you are headed. You are going to have so much fun!

  3. It sounds like you had an awesome getaway! I’m drooling all over the food photos, oh goodness, that donut and the cheesecakes…yum! California looks like a really vegan place to live/visit!

    1. California has lot of wonderful vegan food to offer =) I’m lucky to live here!
I would LOVE to visit you! It’s a little far, but maybe someday. I love seeing your pictures and hearing about what you’ve been up to, it would be nice to see some of those places in person sometime.
