5th: Late Night Snack โ€“ Tell us what youโ€™re midnight snacking on!

So… I’m taking a little creative direction with this post. This is not what I snack on late at night. First of all, I generally don’t make it past 9:30pm, so late night snacking isn’t really my thing. When I do get the late night munchies, I can sometimes fall prey to “bad” foods like entire bags of potato chips. Although I don’t want to deprive myself of said things, I definitely don’t want to be eating that every night.

This is what I *want* to be late night snacking on. Something light, but still filling and that I won’t feel guilt-ridden after eating. Also, chowing down on a bunch of chips won’t really help with sleep. Eating within 2 hours of eating tends to interfere with your sleep schedule, but if you do get hungry a smoothie bowl might be a good way about it, especially if you combine it with a bit of protein.

Smoothie Bowl (serves 1)
1 frozen banana
1 cup of frozen pineapple
3/4 cup of almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
1/4 tsp of turmeric mixed with a bit of water (food colouring)

Blend all of the ingredients together in your blender until smooth. Add your favourite smoothie bowl toppings. I used homemade granola, fresh figs & toasted coconut chips.

Here’s to better late night snacking ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. This is a really nice idea, though I’d never have the discipline to make something using equipment in my dazed midnight state (I’m also early to bed usually, so I’d be a zombie at this time). I might try it for a breakfast instead!

    1. I’m actually the same. I’m basically in bed at 9:30pm every night – there is no way I’d make it to midnight. I can’t even remember the last time I stayed up for New Year’s haha ;p I actually had this for breakfast =) Thanks Jenny!

    1. I totally don’t late night snack on this… I was hoping this would get me to, but I may have just polished off a bowl of popcorn (ah well – that’s not super unhealthy as it’s air popped). I totally dig these for breakfast though!
