Cute dog pictures, art & reading

Since the foot injury, I haven’t been able to enjoy the same kind of activities I normally do and I’ve had to be creative with my time. But I have managed to find some things to focus on =)

The first few days were rough as Terry actually went home to visit family, fortunately I had some friends come over to help me out. I can manage a lot around the house a lot, but the poor pup needs some good walks, which I can’t give her right now. She is not impressed with me.

Thank goodness for dog parks!

And there is a very small, cute park near my place that I can manage to hobble to with her. It looks like spring has sprung here already! Our favourite time to check it out is sunrise.

And thank goodness for friends how are helpful! I’ve been so fortunate to have several friends offer to take Sunny on walks for me. This makes us both happy =D

I haven’t quite got to everything on my list from last week. I have definitely been reading a lot. I will shamelessly admit that I started reading a tween series called “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs. I read the first and second book quickly & greedily and was utterly disappointed to learn that the third (and probably final installment) has yet to be written. Boo. Ah well. If you liked the Lemony Snickets series, you will quite enjoy these. On to less fluffy things with reading “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I’m not very far in, so don’t have much to report other than I am enjoying it so far. I’m realising I don’t read enough non-fiction – do you have any suggestions?

Art projects are going well! I thought I would try my hand at homemade Valentine’s Day cards this year. I only made three and it took me 2.5 hours haha. But it was fun.

These were made with just contsruction paper, scissors, glue and a few leftover scrapbooking stickers & paper. I just googled homemade v-day cards for inspiration. The puppy one is for my niece. She loves dogs. The other two look very similar and are for my mom and sister. I should probably make Terry one too…

And this isn’t my art, but my friend Di helped me make this poster for one of my Make A Wish Kids, where I am a volunteer. I had the tough job of announcing to a little girl that she gets to go to Disneyland. Best. job. ever.

Isn’t this awesome???? I did the castle!!! Di did… well, everything else haha ;p And this was made completely with a posterboard, markers and crayons. I dressed up like Snow White since I had the costume from the previous year. The little girl was super excited =D

Oh, and Di helped me paint an accent wall in the bedroom:

I’ve been trying to be more & less creative in the kitchen. I’m trying my hand at new dishes, but trying to find ones that are short on prep time so I don’t have to stand very long. I made Urban Naturale’s Good Morning Sunshine Smoothie:

It is my current favourite smoothie. I think I’m going to make it again this morning for breakfast – it is SO GOOD =D

I haven’t started learning Spanish at all. It’s been on my to-do list every day for 2 weeks. *sigh* Maybe today will be the day!

I am working on revamping the blog! This will be a slow process, but I’m *really* excited about it. Stay tuned 😉

Happy Monday!

  1. Ok, so what the heck are hemp hearts? I have everything else that’s in that smoothie, but I have never heard of hemp hearts….

If you want to come over and let Sunny run around in the backyard with Indy, you are welcome to come on over… I can even do some Spanish with you!

    1. Hemp hearts are the same as hemp seeds. It’s totally optional of course. I’m a sucker for hemp seeds/hearts, so I always have them on hand.
I may take you up on that! I finally sat down to do some Spanish today – I found a free online site =)
