Midweek Munchies

Haven’t had a chance to participate in Jennifer’s Midweek Munchies link up lately and found some fun things to try recently.

I have tried 2 of these 3 items already.

The Kite Hill cream cheese is pretty good. A friend of mine was going on and on about it, so I thought I’d give it a try. Although I think it’s good, I’m not sure it’s as amazing as she made it out to be. I do wish I could track down some vegan & gluten-free bagels to try a true test though.

I also tried the Enjoy Life muffin mix. I kind of suck at making muffins. I’m just really not much of a baker, so I really wanted to find a mix that I could just throw a few ingredients into and bake. I found the mix to be quite expensive, but I found a coupon on my Enjoy Life chocolate chips and Whole Foods was having a sale, so I ended up getting $2.50 off! Score! The muffins were good, much better than when I try making my own. But not as great as I had hoped. I do like they have a decent amount of protein and have probiotics.

Lastly, I was out for lunch on Saturday when my eyes feasted upon Follow Your Heart’s Vegan Egg!!! I was especially excited about this as I know it isn’t even available in stores yet (at least not here). The pizza place owner apparently managed to snag some to sell. We didn’t get a chance to try it yet though – I will keep you posted!

We managed to have a pretty low key weekend, which was very different from weekends we’ve been having recently. It was much needed. I got a fair amount of blogging done (getting caught up!), got some tidying done, shopping done, errands done and some relaxing. A good weekend.

Oh and we finally got around to hanging our newest Di Hartman painting. Check it out!

I just told her what I wanted and she painted it, with her own flair of course. I LOVE it =D

What did you get up to this weekend?

  1. Can’t wait to hear what people continue to say about the Vegan Egg!!! Nice finds for MWM, btw! Also…I just posted something on my blog that you might be interested in participating in! Let me know your thoughts!

  2. What a gorgeous painting! It is so pretty. :)
I have not had a chance to try the Kite Hill cheese on my travels in the US, and of course it is not even remotely available here. I don’t think I have heard anything other than people rave about it, but of course then expectations get set so high that if it doesn’t completely revolutionise your life and taste so good that you cry a little and if it doesn’t do that, it’s a bit of a letdown.

    1. Thank you Susan! I love the painting. It’s like a family painting =)
You will just have to come back to the US haha. The more I have it, the more I think it is really good, just not jaw droppingly amazing as I had kind of hoped.
