Good morning! I hope you had a fantastic weekend =) I did. There was chocolate involved. I had recently taken a chocolate break after realising I was eating it a little too much. I was hoping to make it until Halloween with no chocolate, but I realised if I waited until then, the day may end up with waaaay too much chocolate ;p So I had a bit over the weekend and feel pretty good. I don’t feel compelled to eat more. My experiment was a success! I look forward to gradually adding it back into my diet, mostly by making chocolate myself or adding cocao powder to oats & smoothies instead of getting back in the habit of buying store-bought chocolate bars. I just need to be mindful that taking breaks doesn’t lead to restricting and find a happy balance with food. Who would have thought it could be so tough?
So, I have had The Better Bean Company beans before, but not this flavour yet. I like their beans because they are a quick & easy thing to pick up for quick lunches. They are healthy and full of protein. All of their flavours are gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, nut-free and non-GMO. With the particular flavour I picked up, you get 9 whole grams of protein for 3/4 cup, it’s low in fat and high in fiber. It is a little high in salt though, but if you’re like me and don’t eat a ton of packaged foods – it’s not so bad.
I normally buy So Delicious Coconut Yogurt, but this Coconut Grove brand was on sale. I don’t eat a lot of yogurt, so this tub will last quite awhile. So far, I have just tried adding it to a smoothie, so I didn’t really get to taste it yet, but I think I’ll like it. Have you tried this kind of yogurt?
And lastly, jackfruit! I’ve had it a few times from food trucks and quite like it, but haven’t tried buying it and preparing it myself. Well, I guess I don’t have much preparing as this already is bbq-flavoured. I bought this just for a bit of variety. I’m not sure how often I’ll buy it, I do like that it is gluten-free and soy-free, but it’s very low in protein and doesn’t have a whole lot of nutritional punch to it.
