Happy MoFo Day 4! And happy HVF!

Before we get started though, I’d like to get in the spirit of the MoFo theme of the day.
4 Tell us about a weird food combo that you love

What do you think of the sound of that combo? Does rhubarb make you dreamily thing of summer desserts? Maybe baked with strawberries and raspberries and other delicious berries? What about rhubarb with tomato? In soup form?


Rockin’ Rhubarb Soup!

The slices of rhubarb spread through the soup to give it a nice zing. The tartness, combined with the juicy tomatoes gives the meal a unique flavour. And the chopped up celery & celery help to give it a nice stew-like quality.

Oooh this totally fits in with the weird food combo in my opinion. Weird, but good! I love the sound of the raspberries, they add a nice balance to the zucchini for this fruity & vegetably loaf.

Raw Vegan Carrot Cake from Vie De La Vegan:


I never liked carrot cake in my pre-vegan days, but have enjoyed the vegan version. I love the sound of this rawsome one =)

  2. I can’t think of a weird food combo for some reason! I’ve been trying but I can’t come up with anything except that I put hot sauce on just about everything which is probably weird to some people.
    I’ve also never tried rhubarb. I think I heard it was poisonous when raw – is that true? I guess that’s why I’ve been scared to try it lol. I’ll have to make your soup!

    1. Putting hot sauce on anything is weird to me haha ;p
      You’ve never tried rhubarb??? The leaves of rhubarb are poisonous (normally they have already been removed when you buy it). As long as you chop off the ends and wash it well, it’s good to go. I’ve had it raw several times =) It tastes better cooked anyway though =)

  3. Happy Labor Day weekend! THank you for hosting the hop once again! My post this week is not a recipe but an account of my first time using henna; so not sure if it qualifies for a vegan blog hop. If not, go ahead and remove and I will be back next week.
