Healthy Vegan Fridays #116

Happy Friday Folks! I hope you are gearing up for a most excellent weekend. I’d like to point out that we updated the rules for HVF as we’ve been getting a fair amount of submissions that don’t encompass HVF. Please take a quick moment to review them down below.

Announcing HVF THEMES!

Mary Ellen and I have been talking about fun things to do for HVF and we thought you all might like to do a theme each month. We’ll post the theme usually 2 weeks in advance so you have some time to come up with a recipe for that month’s theme.

September Theme: Fall Inspired Recipes

Show us your tasty fall recipes featuring apples, pumpkins, squashes, brussels sprouts, cinnamon, cauliflower – anything that says “fall” to you! We’ll collect your posts on September 23rd and share our favorites on the 30th. Can’t wait to see what fall treats you will share!

Also – Mary Ellen and I would like to announce our Fall Theme Challenge! We are asking everyone to bring their favourite fall recipes to life and share them with us on September 23, 2016.

And for something super fun – the recipe I’m sharing this week has a giveaway for vegan chocolate hazelnut spread. Oh yea! Happy Friday indeed 😉

Don’t forget to sign up for the reminder email so you can link up each and every Friday (scroll on down to the bottom).

Never heard of Healthy Vegan Fridays before? It’s an amazing weekly linkup for bloggers to share their delicious and healthy vegan food. This linkup is not restricted to recipes though – feel free to share your posts on exercise & fitness, plant-based health & wellness,  and/or vegan travel, restaurant and cookbook reviews.

Don’t have a blog? Don’t worry! You can come and see what others have shared and find some tasty food to try!

Let’s check out some of last week’s recipes!

Ten Minute Chickpea Wraps from Life Diet Health:

Being gluten-free is sometimes a pain when everyone else is enjoying flour-based wraps. But lettuce totally works! And filled with deliciously seasoned chickpeas? I’m in!

Bean Boulangerie from Zsu’s Vegan Pantry:

I was fortunate enough to go to France on a student exchange in highschool and my host family made something like this for dinner one night. I still have dreams about it. I was vegetarian at the time and they told me there was only “a little meat” in it. At last I can recreate it with this vegan recipe.

Raw Cinnamon Roll Bars with Tahini Date Caramel Drizzle from Oatmeal with a Fork:

Tahini date caramel drizzle?? I’m intrigued! I was never a fan of cinnamon buns before going vegan. These sound SO MUCH BETTER!

Mediterranean Couscous from Sprinkle of Vanilla Sugar:

This is such a pretty dish and simple too! Just as cauliflower is making a huge comeback at the market – perfect timing.

This week I’m sharing my Nocciloata Hazelnut Spread Review & Giveaway:

Mary Ellen is sharing her Easy Strawberry Chia Jam:

Only 4 ingredients and comes together in less than 20 minutes? Sa-weet! Terry took a canning class once, but is scared we won’t do it properly, so this is the kinda jam for us!

We’d love it if you link up and bring some friends to the party! We’ll be pinning and sharing your tasty treats on social media!

  1. I am interested in your idea of themes but I need a bit more information. Does this mean that in two weeks it will only be fall recipes or does it mean you will take the fall recipes out of the regular entries and feature them in a round up?

I regret to say I am not quite in Fall mode because I am embracing spring right now – but I always love pumpkin recipes any time of year which I guess fits this theme. And I am trying to work out if you will also be accepting other recipes on the Fall week or just Fall recipes. Sorry if I missed some of the info.

    1. You can of course post whatever vegan recipe you would like every single Friday. The fall theme is just something fun as a challenge to try. If you would like, you can post a fall recipe this coming Friday, September 16th and then we will share/feature our favourites on Friday, September 23rd. So we will take the fall recipes out of the regular ones to feature.
I am not in fall mode either!! I’m still enjoying raw soups and thinking about smoothie bowls. It’s hard when we live on different sides of the continent and have different seasons at different times. We of course accept any recipes each and every Friday Johanna =) I hope this clarifies things.

      1. Thanks Kimmy – yes that is what I had hoped you would say but I just wanted to be sure so I wasn’t bringing recipes which weren’t quite right. We had had heaps of rain this week so it feels more winter than spring here. If I get inspired with some fall recipes will try and join in the challenge but if not will just bring some celebration of spring :-)

        1. Oh could you please send some rain my way?? California is in such a terrible drought. I’ll send you some sunshine for rain 😉
Share whatever recipes you end up making – we are happy to have your sharing!
