When I was in college, I never had spring break. A lot of the girls I hung out with would always go on fun trips, but I was working double shifts at the on-campus Tim Horton’s to pay my tuition. It didn’t really bother me much, spring break didn’t really sound like something I’d be into. I don’t drink and my idea of a fun night is chilling at home with a good movie or a book (yes, I’m a dork).
Even now, I still don’t relish the idea of a crazy week away. But sometimes life gets a little tedious or crazy busy and you just need a break to get away. So that’s what me & Di did. We packed our bags (mostly filled with delish vegan food!!) and made the trek to Pescadero California for a night at a hostel. When she originally floated the idea of a hostel, my nose crinkled. I am not a “roughing” kind of gal. My idea of camping involves plumbing, always. But she said it sounded cool, so I thought I’d give her the benefit of the doubt. She’s never let me down after all. And this trip did not prove otherwise.
Out and about exploring
Mac n’ Cheez with a view
Enjoying the hot tub at sunset!
Breakfast by the sea
Nearby morning hike to catch some elephant seals (Ano Nuevo State Park)
Ok – so it wasn’t exactly spring break, but it was nice, relaxing & super fun (and cheap!). Oh and filled with awesome vegan food! If you want to check it out for yourself next time you are in the area, here is the website for Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel.
