I have always thought it would be cool to go to D.C. I mean, you got all of these cool historical buildings, a ton of museums and galleries, the president’s hood AND more yummy vegan food than you could imagine!
Ok – food first, I know you’re dying to know what I chowed down on 😉
Our first night in, we stopped at &Pizza on our way to our airbnb. Sadly, they have no gluten-free offerings, but it was so good, it was worth the cheat! One of the best pizzas I have ever had. This has mushrooms, artichoke hearts & falafel crumbles on it. They are definitely worth checking out.
We may or may not have had cupcakes as part of our breakfast one morning… ok – not totally nutritious, but definitely delicious! Sticky fingers has amazing cupcakes. And they are all vegan!! They also have some great breakfast options like breaky burritos. Nothing here is gluten free, but worth trying a cupcake if you can tolerate gluten. Check out Sticky Fingers if you are in the D.C. area.
Followed up with a big pile of greens for lunch. Mmmm salad. I can’t remember where this was But it was really good!!! They had salads to choose from, but also a big salad bar where you could make your own salad and they had a ton of options.
We checked out Woodland’s Vegan Bistro for supper. I LOVED their steamed broccoli thought their tofu was pretty good, but thought their garlic kale was too garlicky (and I love garlic!). They actually allow you to try dishes before you buy, I should have done that. I’ll know for next time.
And last but not least, our last day included a trip to Native Foods. One of my favourite restaurants in all of California. I didn’t realise they had locations elsewhere, but was pleasantly surprised. YUM.
I will share some sights with you later – stay tuned! And add D.C. to your list of awesome vegan eats!
