I recently celebrated 7 years of being vegan. I’m the type of person that likes to mark special occasions. I’ll blame that on my parents as they enjoyed making a big deal of things as I grew up, like birthdays and such. But they would also make big deals of nothing at all. Some people may find it silly, but it makes life just that much more fun in my opinion 😉
The day of the actual Veganversary, I drove all the way out to Oakland to Timeless Coffee, a super cute vegan coffee shop. I had been there only once before and figured I could make the 1-hour drive for this special day. I was a little bummed at first to find out they had no wifi as I had anticipated on a solid 2 hours of blogging. But if you’ve been following my blog for long, you’ll know I constantly crave technology breaks. So I instead enjoyed some quality time with the current book of the week sipping some delicious herbal tea and noshing on a chocolate chip scone.
Since I had driven so far, I figured why not treat myself to lunch at Pepples Donut Farm as I was nearby and had never been. I tried the BBQ Tempeh sandwich – not my usual fare, but I thought I’d switch it up and it was quite good.
I had a volunteer shift that night for Make A Wish and got to meet an adorable little boy with cerebral palsy wanting to swim with the dolphins. Here’s hoping we can make his wish come true. 🌠
I also kind of celebrated Saturday… because why not? I started the day off with an 8-mile run. I’m training for the San Jose Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon. I’m getting over an IT band injury and anticipated a slow run. I was pleasantly surprised that I ran the 8-miles at a quick pace and finished at 1 hour and 15 minutes. If I continue to train like this, I will be in good shape for the actual race.
After the long run, I headed the looooooonnnnng 2.5 hour drive to Sebastapol for Muir’s Tea Room. My friend, Jessie, was nice and drove since my legs were sore. We each got a Close to Nature’s Heart tea rack which includes 1 pot of tea, 2 tea sandwhiches, a soup or salad (I actually paid a little extra and opted for both since I was SO HUNGRY), a scone & some petit desserts.
It was quite amazing and totally worth the drive. I always enjoy a good drive across the bridge anyway =) Not a great picture – but that is the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
Cheers to special occasions and the friends that go adventuring with us <3
Oh and Sunny would like to say hi! She hasn’t made it on the blog in awhile.
