Have you tried chia water yet?? It’s very yummy and quite refreshing. I made this before a nice, 6km run and it was a great pre-workout drink. I will admit I did not come up with this idea on my own. I was at one of my favourite restaurants (Lyfe Kitchen in Palo Alto) and they had it on the menu. I honestly thought it sounded weird and didn’t try it when my friend ordered it. But I went again shortly after and my hubby thought it sounded interesting, so we both ordered a strawberry mint and it was super tasty! I was expecting the water to be kind of chunky, but it actually gets a pretty even distribution and is kind of a thick, naturally flavoured drink.
Lemon Strawberry Mint Ginger Chia Water
1 tbsp of chia seeds
2 medium strawberries (tops removed)
1/4 of a lemon (I just took some of the lemon, chopped it and put it right in instead of juicing it to get more lemon flavour)
3 leaves of fresh mint
1 tsp fresh, grated ginger
Fill a glass with water about 3/4 full and add your chia seeds and stir it up. Allow this to sit and gel for about 10 minutes, then stir it again, add the remaining ingredients and stir it again. Allow it to sit another 10 minutes to allow the flavours to meld and stir it one more time before enjoying.
