Ever wonder where I come from? Well… you get to find out anyway haha ;p
I hail from a small, southwestern Ontario. I think my love of water comes from growing up along the river =)
Not too shabby huh?
As plane tickets aren’t exactly cheap, we don’t get out there too often, but fortunately my cousin recently got married, so we got to head home for the event.
One of the cool things about where I come from is it borders an American city.
My city and the other city always felt like neighbours and would do cool stuff for each other. Like setting off fireworks for each other’s respective celebratory days.
Ok – ’nuff about that. I had a blast visiting my friends and family and am trying to fight off those homesick feelings already (I’ve been home just a few short days).
Terry couldn’t come up as early as me since he has this whole “work” thing, so I got to go up a week early and hang out with my family. Look what was waiting for me when I arrived at my mom’s:
How cute is she? She also took me to the grocery store and we loaded up on awesome vegan & gluten free things so I could make food for myself.
I got to spend a lot of time with my niece, which was awesome =)
She made me play We played tea party as princesses haha.
One of the highlights of my trip was spending the afternoon reading & wandering around this park:
Glorious weather. Well, that day at least. I flew in on a Thursday night and it was so hot & muggy I could hardly breathe. That night I woke up to booming, loud thunderstorms. We had torrential downpours the following day (enough for my mom’s basement to have a minor flood…), and frost on the ground by Saturday (so I could see my breath while I went for my run). Fun times… can’t say I miss the weather much.
And I actually don’t like fall. I know, I know!! I’m a weirdo. But I love how California has similar weather all year round. I love the palm trees, the balmy winters, the perpetual sunshine… I can’t help it, I was meant to live here. I always felt like the leaves changing colour were just a nasty reminder of the bitterly cold weather that was just around the corner. Oh and I don’t like pumpkin. So you won’t be seeing any pumpkin recipes from this gal ;p
Here are some random pics of some of the people we left and miss and were fortunate enough to catch up with:
Here’s a cute picture of us from the wedding we went to:
Beautiful ceremony, I’m so happy for my cousin =)
My hubby grew up on a farm. You can’t see behind the trees, but there are fields back there. I find this amusing as he is the exact opposite of a farmer (computer geek to the core).
And a few other pics for you:
Goodbye Southwestern Ontario… for now.
