A FigMint of your Smoothie

I’ve been pet sitting for a friend and I ventured into the backyard one day with the pooch and noticed a tree. I had been getting fresh lemons & oranges throughout the winter from my friend. And now, to my utter delight, I noticed a FIG TREE!!! When I asked my friend if she would mind if I took a few, she said “Oh, we don’t eat figs. Have as many as you want.” SQUEE!!!! =D =D

Figs happen to be in season right now here in Northern California, so I wanted to try to find some other local ingredients that are in season right now. Avocados are in season pretty well all year round. And guess what else is in season? An happens to be growing on my balcony?

Mint! Ok… my plant is a little sad looking… probably should have taken the picture before I took the leaves off to make the smoothie. Ah well.

A FigMint of your Smoothie

1 large handful of spinach

1/2 of an avocado, frozen

2 fresh figs

1-2 tbsp of fresh mint

1 persian cucumber (or half of a normal cucumber)

1 tbsp of coconut oil

1/2 tsp of cinnamon

1 tbsp of hemp seeds

1 tsp of maca powder

3/4 cup of almond milk

1/4 cup of coconut water

Put everything in your blender and blend it all up!

It’s pretty refreshing =)

  1. Oh I wish I had fresh mint left so I could make this! I might try to improvise with either peppermint stevia or extract because I am OBSESSED with figs right now.

Your friends don’t eat figs??? Are they CRAZY???? Oh well, more for you :)

    1. Ha! Yes, figs are awesome! My friends are completely crazy ;p In the winter they were giving me oranges from their orange tree as they couldn’t eat so many. I don’t think I could eat too many oranges…
      Mmm peppermint stevia sounds great.
